One of my biggest professional and personal achievements has to be working with Oni Press on Rick and Morty! It felt incredible to be part of it. Thanks to some sample pages I had done (you can check out an inked page here and a colored one here), I landed the project and hit the deadlines without a problem. I picked up the style quickly, which was so helpful, and I even got the chance to create some original characters. I was beyond thrilled to work on something so fun.
The script was by the amazing Kyle Starks, who has received several Eisner nominations. Having such a great script made my work even more exciting. Although I initially worked on one issue, I had to take a break from comics for about two years afterward. Luckily, though, I was able to come back to Rick and Morty later, and it was just as fun the second time around. Jumping back into the style and connecting with the characters again was so satisfying, and I loved working on the series even more.
Looking back, it’s such a great feeling to know I contributed to something as iconic as Rick and Morty. I’ve always been a fan, so getting to be part of this world professionally was surreal. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity and the experience. Here’s hoping there are more chances to work on projects like this in the future!
